Anonymous asked: Are you near-sighted or far-sighted?

“Far-sighted, though ah, my hyperopia is pretty high so… it’s more like I can’t see well at all, hah.”

“Yeah, I have.”

Anonymous asked: Hi Milo! -cheery wave- When I found your blog I totally flipped out because I really love you <3 kad;lkfjsaldkjfdfka; C-can I have a hug?

-smiles at the Anon and flushes a bit at their praise, smiling bashfully- O-Of course you can! That’s really sweet of you, I-I don’t know what to say… -chuckles and gives them a warm hug- Thanks for saying hi, you really made my day. A-And, you don’t have to worry about talking to me off anon if you want, you know! -smiles kindly at them-

Nasap (n/v): home; to return safely there

Milo pushed the last bit of clothing into his bag and clasped it, glancing around the plain apartment. He had grown a bit fond of the small space… it had housed so many faces and seen a lot of smiles, tears, and newly formed friendships in the month he had lived in it. But he couldn’t ignore the call of his city any longer; his heart ached for home. He slung the bag over his shoulder and picked up the hefty box that was entirely stuffed with books and papers, staggering under it’s weight. He brought it down to the waiting cab, nodding to the man’s question, who went to retrieve the second box. Now fully loaded, the car drove down the stone streets to the dock, where Mr. Whitmore waited.

After a few minutes of chatting, Milo’s things were strapped securely to his Aktirak, and Milo stood dressed back in his expedition clothes to keep the chill of the wind off him while he traveled. Darkness had fallen, making it safe to fly without being seen, and Milo was eager to get going. One last hug to his faithful friend, and Milo kicked off the pier and skimmed low and fast over the water until he hit open ocean, bringing himself higher above the spray of the waves. He shivered, glad he had donned the extra coat, sliding the hood up. He checked his compass every now and then but he didn’t fear going off course. His vehicle knew his intention and so kept at a steady, swift pace, a straight line for the volcano that poked up out of the ocean. A trip that normally could have taken up to a month was only a single night with the speed Milo traveled at. He paused at the base of the mountain to rest and eat and change into his Atlantean tunic before speeding down through the lava tubes as the sun appeared on the horizon, taking one last look at it before he returned underground.

The heat of the bubbling molten rock below him was staggering compared to the cool air above. He grinned as farther in, kehtuhkentem ohbensuhg, or the lava whales, poked their heads up and dove in and out of their fiery home as he passed. A little one crawled out and barked excitedly and Milo waved as he slowed his speed. “Obby, hey boy! I’ll play with you later, I have to get home first!” The little purple creature spun in a circle with another happy yip before diving back into the lava.

Finally, Milo saw light spilling into the tunnels. He leaned forward with a grin, pressing the vehicle to a higher speed until he burst into the huge cavern that held his home. He hovered still for a moment, taking in the sight that had been only memory for too many weeks. The air traffic was speeding busily above the stone city, the crystal shining  in the distance. He spotted a few pieces of new finished construction and he smiled. Passing Atlanteans on Ketaks and Nartags waved with cries of “Degim!” and “Supak!” and “Wiltem!” He saw a small crowd forming in the central courtyard in front of the throne room and set his course for it.

Tanebtop!” The people cried, grinning as they drew closer, peering over one another to look curiously at the boxes and to wave joyfully to their returned King. “You’re back!”

Milo beamed and clapped the men on the shoulders who came and bowed in front of him and gave nods of respect to the women, kneeling to ruffle the hair of a few excitable children. He returned greetings and gave quick answers to various questions, nodding as snatches of news reached him. This statue was done, a new building was underway, there was another mural found, he should take a look at this or that. They asked what he had brought back, what he had seen, why was he gone for over a Haramak (the Atlantean month of 18 days), was there anything exciting they should know.

Tig, tig, kwiyim-li-mik!Yes, yes, I had a good time! He laughed. “I brought back lots of information for the schools.” The Atlantean sounded refreshing in his ears, and he stumbled slightly at first after the lack of conversation for so long, but was soon letting the language roll off his tongue, speaking in Atlantean more than English when he could. He engaged in conversation with a few more people before he finally was able to placate their curiosity and get an order to the standing guards to carry the boxes to his study. He began scanning the faces with more purpose… there was one he hadn’t seen yet.

Lat Kida-top tikud-e-tot dap?” He murmured to the nearest guard.  Where is Kida?

Yus, Tanebtop.” There, Your Highness. The man replied with a smile, motioning toward the steps to the throne room.

Milo turned his gaze in the direction he pointed, unable to stop his own smile.

Milo was home.

((Sweet Zeus above Milo.

Athena sees Milo in two ways:

Firstly as a student. Milo’s passion of knowledge and information is one that Athena values greatly, and not one that she will leave to merely develop by itself. When she sees great potential within someone, regardless of whom or what they may be, she will do what she can to nurture it (She is the Goddess of Wisdom, after all). And she obviously sees this within Milo, thus resulting in a mentor/student relationship between the two. She is pleased and honored by the fact that he regards her and her domain as a goddess so highly (something that she believes has been lost after all these years) and will do what she can to make sure that her student receives all that he wants, intellect-wise, and more.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, as a friend. I’m not lying when I say that she views both Milo and Moze as her nephews; it’s an actual feeling and dynamic that exists between her and the young linguist and necromancer. She cares for Milo deeply, and is always surrounded by a sense of ease when she is around him. Whether they are talking about topics of study, or simply about a few events that have taken place, she holds each conversation dear. It’s completely stressless, and isn’t forced at all, and she loves every minute of it.

And now I’m going to stop because wow I wrote an essay about this, shut up Athena))

Anonymous asked: Lovin' your answers. I think of music from 'Back to the Future' since it reminds me of Michael J. Fox and since the music is always tense/exciting, just like Milo's adventure. What did you think of the sequel to Atlantis?

Thanks! Ohh, I like that, you make a great point.

Oh gosh, the sequel. Okay. I have a whole response prepared for this. I thought I had one written somewhere and I just tried to look for it, but… no luck, so here goes.

I’m mixed about it. I’ll start with what I didn’t like. Put simply… the plot. In their defense, it was because it was originally designed to be for a TV series, and they scrapped the idea and just made a movie so I don’t blame it for being weak… but, see, one of my favorite parts of A:TLE was that it used science, not magic. And the sequel was mostly involving magic. And the ending… gah. Just no. I don’t involve any of the movie in my RP because… Atlantis rising up I simply think is entirely impossible. I know a good share about plate tectonics and how Atlantis sank, and if Atlantis were to come back to the surface like that it would displace all that water and probably cause tsunamis and a break in the crust (volcanos and earthquakes, yeesh), and it would be just as catastrophic as it sinking. So that really bothered me… plus, the crystal on the surface, jeez! The whole point is to make sure no one else learns of it and tries to exploit it again… so, there’s my rant on that. And you know, some things were just a little ridiculous, to be honest… Plus, he did a decent job, but James Arnold Taylor simply isn’t Michael J. Fox, so Milo wasn’t quite the same with a different voice.

Now, what I did like was the character development. It was really sweet to see how Milo and Kida interacted after they were married. They were shown very affectionate, always hugging and holding hands, and the way Milo comforted Kida was so sweet. And I love love love that we saw a little more of the city and how Milo looked in that setting; and same with seeing Kida on the surface. It did a good job of showing how Milo changed after the first movie - he was a little more commanding and strong, taking charge of most situations. And seeing Milo get into a few physical fights was something in itself! We also get a closer look at Kida’s inner thoughts, her concerns about her father and the well-being of the city. So those little moments are what made me enjoy the movie to an extent.

Anonymous asked: Non-favorite character, who is not a villain?

Ohhh, harder. I don’t really have one, the rest of the characters are all so great! I’d feel bad naming one, considering everything I know about all of them… uhh, does Harcourt count as a villain? xD Because if not, then definitely him. I dislike Mr. Fenton Q. Harcourt almost as much as I dislike Rourke.

Buuuut, if I have to choose out of the Ulysses crew, then… ahhh… Cookie? No offense to dear Jebidiah! I love him! I actually only say that because we really weren’t presented with any info on him in the movie, so at first it was like who the heck is this guy.

Anonymous asked: Favorite song from the Atlantis soundtrack?

The Secret Swim. Runner-up is Kida Returns.

Anonymous asked: You have a favorite quote from the movie not said my Milo?

Do you mean a quote from someone other than Milo? Hmm… that’s a tough one. I’ll give you my top three.

Kida: “We are not thriving. True, our people live, but our culture is dying. We are like a stone the ocean beats against. With each passing year, a little more of us is worn away.

Mole: “Parchment fiber from the Nile Delta circa 500 B.C., lead pencil No. 2, paint flecks of a type used in government buildings, you have a cat, short hair Persian, two years old, third in a liter of seven- These are all the microscopic fingerprints of the mapmaker… and linguist.

Dr. Sweet: “Of course, it’s been my experience, when you hit bottom, the only place left to go is up.  (Milo: Who told you that?) A fellow by the name of Thaddeus Thatch.”

Anonymous asked: I've always wondered, but do you picture the roleplays in animation or in real life?

[ Ohh, great question… I’d say a mix, actually. Some glimpses are animation, the next is reality. And I think that comes from the fact that all animation styles are different and since I’m imagining real places, it all kind of blends to be one standard view. Like… let’s say I’m picturing Milo walking around New York. I see the city in real life - but Milo looks a mix between animation and a real person, which varies in degrees depending on his surroundings. And especially when he is with other characters… I see their animation, but it somehow manages to blend, in a way, so the two beside each other don’t look extremely different. I also see more glimpses of pieces of reality - like, if he touches someone, I can see their skin or their clothes. If he hugs them, I can feel their warmth and imagine their scent. It definitely becomes a lot more 3D, and I see more detail, but it’s still a cross between animation and reality. I tend to feel a lot more than I see, though. I sense Milo’s reactions to things and I translate it into body language and I hear his voice and how the words would sound in it, and I listen to what’s going on inside his head and how it affects him. When I’m writing, I hold the scene in my head and I try to stay in it, like looking at a picture that zooms in and out on different things, and sometimes I’ll switch so I’m looking through Milo’s eyes. It’s hard to describe what I’m actually seeing though. Because it’s in my head, it seems real.

….Hah, long answer is long! It’s just that now that I’m actually thinking about it, it’s hard to explain. Not to mention my mind has some strange thinking patterns and such. But I think that is as close as I’m going to get. ]

milojamesthatch asked: [ omg, I hope this won’t sound weird, but just for the sake of love, you should write our characters together… ;w; <33 ]

thepallasathena:

It wasn’t that they shared feelings for each other, per se. Not a romantic one, at the very least. Milo Thatch was far from wooed when it came to the Goddess of Wisdom, and she in turn rarely felt any romantic inclination at all, much less towards the young linguist.

But there was something there, that much was certain. The almost unrecognizable yet undeniable connection that formed between a mentor and her student. For that was what it was, wasn’t it? The young man’s desire for knowledge and wisdom was ever present, and only stressed upon when he was in the presence of the goddess in particular. The ever knowledgeable one. The voice of reason, the voice of council. The god who spoke with the wisdom of an old sage and pursued knowledge with the enthusiasm of a young scholar. It fascinated him beyond belief.

But the fondness was hardly one-sided. The Pallas Athene was not one to ignore brilliance when she saw it. The way in which he held ancient texts with care, spoke of his major with ill-contained fervor. His constant attention to her every word; it was something that she was both surprised and immensely pleased to witness, one that brought her an almost bittersweet joy. For she was not used to such a display of emotion, as much as it upset her to admit. It was rare to find a being (mortal or otherwise) who did not, to some extent, see her as the god who felt nothing, spoke naught of emotion and only cruel, calculating intelligence. The robot of the Olympians, the bringer of council and no-thing more. He did, though, and that in and of itself was enough to build a fondness for him.

But also came his passion for knowledge, his desire to learn. And to the Goddess of Wisdom herself, that was an attribute worthy of her favor.
